Skye Westdijk's Biography

Skye Westdijk strongly disagrees with the use of A.I., especially in the creative sector and therefore doesn't use A.I. to write any of their work.
Skye Westdijk was born on July 20th 1999 in Nieuwegein, The Netherlands.
From a young age, they had a vivid imagination which resulted mostly in plenty of drawings and stories of all sorts of fantastical worlds and creatures.

Introduced into fantasy as a genre by the Lord of the Rings movies and the Inheritance Cycle books by Christopher Paolini, it didn't take long for Skye to begin developing stories of their own. Supported by plenty of creative writing assignments in school as well as two wonderful parents recognising Skye's free spirit, their inner writer quickly developed.
By the age of twelve, Skye had a number of handwritten short stories no longer than a few pages at the time, and one story that could no longer be confined to a few pages.
Their love for worldbuilding took over as continents, races, creatures, magic systems, mythology, and even fictional languages began pouring from their mind into a semi-coherent world.

After filling plenty of notebooks and several creative writing assignments, Skye began writing their own story. By the age of 19, this story had formed itself into the first book of a longer series. In 2019, they self-published the first Songs of War book, 'A Dance of Darkness'. It won the IndieReader Discovery Award for best LGBTQ+ fiction in 2021, right after the release of the second book in the series, 'A Storm of Shadows'.
After releasing their second novel, and over the course of the pandemic, Skye didn't focus on publishing for a while, instead turning to find the joy in their dream and passion of storytelling. Having found that joy once more, they have returned to writing their stories and releasing them into the world. They even decided to rewrite their original series into a new Songs of War series that reflects who they have become as an author.
